The Orchard Mesa branch of the Mesa County Library is set to stay in its current location through the end of its lease in 2028, the library announced Monday.

Questions about the future of the branch have been circulating since earlier this year regarding the future of the branch.

The library is primarily funded by property taxes, and faced a 21% rent hike in 2023 at its location, 230 E Lynwood St.

“A proposed statewide property tax reduction for 2026 initially raised concerns about potential impacts to library funding—and the future of the Orchard Mesa Branch Library,” an email to library patrons stated. “However, preliminary revenue projections for 2026 are favorable, and closure of the branch is no longer anticipated at this time.”
