It was an innocuous trip to the movies with the kids that kick-started Liesl Benecke’s life-long obsession with minions.
“It was in 2010 when the Despicable Me movie came out. I really loved the minions, they really were very funny and it just tickled my funny bone,” Ms Benecke said.
“They (her kids) liked minions, but I loved them.
“They make me really happy.”
Her fascination with the enduring pop culture phenomenon really took off in 2018, when she visited Universal Studios — home of the minions — in Singapore.
The Jindalee resident set the Guinness World Record earlier this year for the largest collection of minions memorabilia, coming in at 1035.
But it took a lot more work than just hoarding the little yellow creatures.
To set the record, Ms Benecke had to have a minimum of 100
