MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The board of directors at Market Basket has appointed longtime chief financial officer Donald T. Mulligan as interim CEO.

The move comes following the firing of Arthur T. Demoulas last week.

According to the board, Mulligan has worked for the company for 42 years.
