FBI Director Kash Patel is facing questioning in a Senate hearing focused on the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s murder and recent firings of senior officials who have accused Patel of illegal political retribution.

Patel is expected to face questions Tuesday about whether he did exactly that when the FBI in August fired five agents and senior officials in a move that current and former officials tell the Associated Press lowered morale and contributed to worry inside the agency.

Patel’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee is the first hearing of Patel’s tenure.
