A Coventry man used his love of his city's history as a springboard for a victorious performance on Mastermind this week. Eric Davis sat opposite host and quiz master Clive Myrie in Monday night's episode of the long running BBC 2 quiz show.
Eric's specialist topic was the history of Coventry - he surged to an early joint lead answering every one of his questions correctly apart from one. He later consolidated this performance with a strong general knowledge round, meaning he progressed to the semi final and a shot at the coveted Mastermind glass bowl.
Eric, who is a consultant neuropsychologist, answered questions spread across a thousand years of Coventry history, including topics such as the city's coat of arms, industry, and figures and buildings through the ages.
