JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. —

A man was arrested after he tried to get into a North Carolina school while a group of students were going in.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they were contacted Monday by a school resource officer at Smoky Mountain High School about a suspicious man trying to enter the school behind a group of students. Latest Forecast

The students were able to shut the door on the subject and said the man began walking around the school.

Deputies found the man, later identified as Griffin Chandler Sanders, walking on Highway 107.

Sanders was arrested and charged with the following:

Intoxicated and disruptive

Misdemeanor larceny

Second-degree trespass

Breaking or entering

Injury to real property
