Inow fully understand why the Democratic Party is weak and, as U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen puts it, “too rudderless, too cautious” ( “Van Hollen endorses Zohran Mamdani for NYC mayor, slams ‘spineless’ Dems for hesitating,” Sept. 15). It’s because of people like Senator Van Hollen who lack the spine to realize that New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani would lead this country to socialism.

Freezing rent when costs for landlords go up and public grocery stores may sound like great things, but I doubt he could ever really accomplish it. He sounds a lot like Gov. Wes Moore with all his promises, half of which have yet to come to fruition.
