Ahead of Oregon ’s matchup with Oregon State , Ducks coach Dan Lanning praised the speed and big play ability of the Beavers’ offense led by quarterback Maalik Murphy.
The No. 6 Ducks (3-0) are favored by more than five touchdowns against the Beavers (0-3), but Lanning pointed to several areas for the Oregon defense to be wary of in Saturday’s rivalry game.
“One of the strongest arms we’ve seen, right?” Lanning said of Murphy. “I think he’s got a cannon. And delivered a deep ball last week against Texas Tech. It was really impressive.”
Lanning noted that Murphy is capable of giving the Ducks’ defense problems if they don’t consistently do their jobs in coverage. Leading the way among Murphy’s targets is Trent Walker, who had a team-high eight receptions for 68 yards in last season
