DES MOINES, Iowa —
The historic Ingersoll Theater is set to re-open in November after being dormant for over 10 years. The venue will host music, comedy, and variety shows.
It's been empty since 2014 and hasn't offered dinner shows since the early 2000s. Major renovations for the theater began in June.
The venue has 187 seats downstairs and 44 seats in the club level, which has a private bar, private restroom, and an elevator.
Executive Director Renee Crowell said the audience experience will be more elevated than before.
"It's going to open grander than ever. One of the owners said if Frank Sinatra walked down the aisle he wouldn't be surprised. The place is that cool, and we're happy to bring it to the community," Crowell said.
The first shows are scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend
