ANDY REID has broken his silence over the Kansas City Chiefs decision to wear T-shirts supporting Rashee Rice.

Rice is currently serving a six-game suspension for his involvement in a multi-car crash.

But Travis Kelce and Chiefs team-mate Tyquan Thornton sparked controversy with their decision to wear T-Shirts supporting the wide receiver ahead of their clash with the Philadelphia Eagles .

Kelce and Thornton were seen with tops which said: "Free 4".

This is the number that Rice wears for the NFL franchise.

The move drew criticism online given the gravity of the situation.

However, head coach Reid sympathised with his stars.

When questioned about it by media on Monday, Reid said: "I would tell you, the guys love Rashee, and they feel for him sitting out here.
