PHOENIX (AZFamily/AP) — Funding is set to double for Arizona’s two tribal colleges as part of the Trump administration’s redirection of hundreds of millions of education dollars.

The money is part of nearly $500 million in federal funding meant to double funds for tribal colleges and HBCUs (historically Black colleges and universities) in the US.

The first tribally controlled and accredited college in the United States, Diné College , is chartered by the Navajo Nation and serves over 1,300 students across eight campuses in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, according to the American Indian College Fund.

In central and southern Arizona, Tohono O’odham Community College serves over 800 students. It has four separate campuses: two are in Sells, one is in Phoenix, and a third is in San Carl
