CHESTERTON, Ind. (WNDU) - A Chesterton man has been arrested on suspicion of sending an online threat that resulted in a lockdown and a midshipman being shot last week at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
23-year-old Jackson Fleming is facing a charge of transmitting a threat in interstate communication. According to the FBI, he was arrested last Friday — the day after the threat.
According to NBC News , the academy went on lockdown around 5 p.m. last Thursday, Sept. 11, in response to anonymous threats made on social media by a student who had been kicked out of the academy. The sender reportedly used an IP address to make it look as though they were on campus.
During the lockdown, NBC News says a midshipman (student) was shot by a law enforcement officer after t
