Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) announced on Tuesday that he will seek a third term in the 2026 elections, aiming to become the longest-serving governor in his state.
Walz, 61, revealed in a campaign video that he will run in Minnesota’s gubernatorial race next year amid speculation about a 2028 presidential bid. Former Vice President Kamala Harris tapped Walz to be her running mate during her short-lived campaign for the White House last year.
“I’ve been to every corner of Minnesota, and there’s nothing like it. It’s the best place on Earth with the best people. I’ve seen how we help each other through the hard times. And boy, we’ve seen terrible times this year,” Walz said in the video.
