CLINTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- American food company Smithfield Foods has donated 103 acres of farmland to the Coharie Tribe.

The Coharie Tribe of North Carolina is a state-recognized Native American community descended from the Neusiok Indians with deep roots in Sampson County. They preserve and celebrate their heritage through traditions like the Coharie Powwoww.

This land donation was announced Saturday during the 55th Powwow in Clinton.
