UPPER TOWNSHIP — The township Planning Board asked for professional advice on whether the site of a long-vacant office building in Marmora should be designated an area in need of rehabilitation.
The Township Committee had asked the board to consider the possibility for the property on Route 9 that includes the former Verizon building. The property sits on about 14 acres in one of the areas of the township designated as a town center.
On Thursday, the Planning Board discussed the matter.
“It was sent to our engineers and our planner,” said Mayor Curtis Corson, who is also a member of the Planning Board. “It’s going to be a continued conversation.”
Corson supports the idea, saying the designation gives the township more input into what is ultimately developed at the site.
