CANTON – The merger agreement to take the Hall of Fame Resort Entertainment Co. private did not get shareholder approval, and a new meeting has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 25.
"Unfortunately, we have fallen just short of the votes needed to move our go-to-private effort forward," Anne Graffice, the company's executive vice president of global marketing and public affairs, said in a prepared statement. "Although this is not what we had hoped for today, it is not unusual for this to happen."
Graffice added that the multi-faceted company, which is behind the Hall of Fame Village development, will try to secure the needed votes by the next meeting because "we believe privatization to be the only viable option."
