More than 190 men and women at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) recently celebrated a milestone in their personal growth and rehabilitation. Together, they earned a total of 259 certificates in GED, re-entry, and vocational training programs.

The graduation ceremony highlighted not only the academic and technical accomplishments but also the life-changing stories behind them. Each certificate represented perseverance, resilience, and hope for a better future.

One of those stories is that of 33-year-old Tobby Holcombe who grew up in Melvin, Alabama. Expelled from school in the 7th grade, Holcombe never returned to the classroom. His life was soon shaped by drug use and dealing, ultimately leading to his incarceration.
