What to know about the charges and suspect in Charlie Kirk's killing

Authorities announced charges Tuesday against Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old accused of shooting and killing Charlie Kirk last week while the conservative activist was speaking at Utah Valley University .

Robinson was booked into a Utah jail early Friday on charges of aggravated murder, obstruction and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury. A press conference about the charges and next steps in the case started at around 12 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET).

Robinson will make his first appearance in court later on Tuesday. He is being held at the Utah County Jail without bail and is expected to appear in court virtually at 3 p.m. local time (5 p.m. ET).
