It was a record setting year in the books for the Kitchener Rangers.
The Ontario Hockey League club set a high mark as a franchise by reporting regular-season revenues of $7.77 million for 2024-25 in its year-end financial report.
That’s up about $400,000 from the previous season.
And while the team enjoyed an overall surplus of $1.66 million, profits decreased about $40,000 from 2023-24.
“We had a larger amount of expenses that were driven by the changing (hockey) landscape,” said Rangers chief operating officer Joe Birch.
Last November, the NCAA changed its rules to allow players with Canadian Hockey League experience into its ranks.
And that has had a trickle-down effect.
