A GOP lawmaker is renewing one of her controversial calls in the wake of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk .
In a post on X, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) declared on Monday that she wants a “peaceful national divorce,” writing that “Our country is too far gone and too far divided, and it’s no longer safe for any of us.”
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed last week while speaking during an event at Utah Valley University. After a less than two-day manhunt, the FBI arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson on suspicion of carrying out the fatal shooting.
Following Kirk’s death, President Donald Trump and a band of GOP lawmakers have ramped up their rhetoric as they claim political violence stems only from the left side of the political aisle.
