A man was killed in a stabbing in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, police said Tuesday.
It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was in custody, but Fitchburg police said both people involved are believed to have known each other, and the stabbing wasn't a random act of violence.

The incident was reported as a disturbance involving a knife about 5:27 a.m. on Chester Street, police said, and officers found the man with apparent stab wounds. He was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
The man wasn't immediately publicly identified beyond being 40 years old.
