PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Police in Floyd County have confirmed a student is now in custody after an incident at a high school.

The Prestonsburg Police Department shared a post on social media, saying there was a lockdown at Prestonsburg High School that resulted in a “large police presence” at the school.

“Prestonsburg PD officers and Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies are on scene and the school is secure. The lockdown has been lifted and one student is in custody,” said the post.

The release said there is no evidence that there was ever a confirmed threat to the school, but the department plans to release more information.

Later, school officials said no weapon was found and no injuries were reported.

This story will be updated as more information is made available.
