EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened in East Fishkill on Tuesday. The crash took place around 6:30 a.m. on the Taconic State Parkway near mile marker 36.1.

Troopers determined that a 2025 Ducati motorcycle being operated by State Police Sergeant Nigel Barnett was heading southbound on the road when Barnett reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Detectives stated that Barnett was ejected from the motorcycle and collided with a guardrail on the parkway's west shoulder.

Emergency responders attempted treatment on Barnett, but he was ultimately declared dead at the scene. Sergeant Barnett, 49, of Poughkeepsie, was a 19-year veteran with State Police and served as Station Commander for Troop K in Cortlandt. The crash r
