SCARBOROUGH, MAINE (WMTW) - An assistant principal died in a crash while allegedly fleeing from police.
Police said reports of an erratic driver on Interstate 295 in Richmond started coming in Saturday around 9:30 p.m.
Troopers said they caught up with a Jeep Wrangler in Yarmouth and pulled over the driver, identified as 34-year-old Jacob Brown.
Police said Brown sped away from the traffic stop and ended up crashing into the woods.
Brown was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the Jeep, which burst into flames, according to troopers.
Brown was pronounced dead on the scene.
“I was devastated,” Jillian St. Louis said.
