Toronto Coun. Michael Thompson has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting two women at a Muskoka cottage over Canada Day weekend in 2022.

Justice Phil Brissette delivered his ruling Tuesday and said the court could not be satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Thompson was guilty.

When Brissette delivered his ruling, Thompson's lawyer, Leora Shemesh, grabbed the councillor's hand and shook it several times. She put her hand on his shoulder and mouthed "you okay?" He nodded while looking straight.
