EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Two individuals have been charged with attempted murder following a shootout that occurred in East Harlem on Monday evening, after police intervened.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. near East 123rd Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers saw a man shooting a gun. They discharged their firearms at the man, and then engaged in a foot pursuit, officials say.
Police say surveillance shows two groups engaged in a dispute, which led to the gunfight.
Two males were taken into police custody.
Damian Calhoun, 18, was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Officials say Calhoun had pleaded guilty to an attempted murder charge in 2024 when he was 17 years old. As he wasn't charged as an adult, he was released in July a
