A Fort Wayne woman was sentenced today to six years in prison for her part in a shooting that killed a 16-year-old girl in 2022.
Ja'Layah Brown, 19, pleaded guilty ago to felony assisting a criminal by entering an agreement more than two years ago. Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull Tuesday accepted the agreement and dismissed a charge of conspiracy to commit murder, which carries between 20 and 40 years in prison.
Brown was one of three teens who received charges stemming from the homicide of Le’Brisha Miangel Hobbs on or about July 5, 2022, near South Hanna and Lafayette streets. She died Aug. 23, 2022, after being hospitalized in life-threatening condition for about seven weeks.
