A local educational assistant and former University of the Fraser Valley Cascades baseball player has been chosen to represent Canada at the World Cup of Pickleball.

Caelan Sampson, a regular in the Abbotsford and Chilliwack pickleball scene, will wear the red and white at the event which runs from Oct. 27 to Nov. 7 in Florida.

All competitors are asked to raise sponsorship or get a donation to help them cover costs associated with the tournament and Sampson has reached out to the community for support. A total of $3,000 is sought by Sampson, which will cover flights, accomodation and training.
