SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The cooler, fall-like weather we’ve been enjoying recently has definitely put fall on our minds and with that comes the excitement of watching the leaves change. Whether you're up north where the season hits early or farther south where it arrives later, fall foliage season is just around the corner. So, let’s dive into when we can expect peak color and what factors may influence how vibrant those leaves turn this year.

Where we are now

As of mid-September, we haven’t seen much color change across most of the region. The only areas showing early signs of color are far to the west and in the Northeast. Here in the South, things are still holding on to their summer greens, which is normal for this time of year.
