With J.J. McCarthy out due to an ankle injury for the next several weeks, the Vikings are reportedly signing journeyman QB Desmond Ridder to fill out their QB room.

Ridder, 26, was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. During his two seasons in Atlanta, Ridder went 8-9 as a starter throwing for 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, completing 64% of his passes.

After the Falcons signed former Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, Ridder was traded to the Cardinals. He was released following Arizona's training camp but ended up on the team's practice squad to begin the season. In October, the Raiders signed Ridder to be their backup for the remainder of the season.
