Six inmates and 10 staffers including corrections officers at Fishkill Correctional Facility were sickened Sept. 15 by possible exposure to a so-far unknown substance.

A spokesman for the New York State Commission on Corrections and Community Supervision said the investigation was continuing as of the afternoon of Sept. 16.

According to information provided by the commission, the mystery began the previous evening when six inmates appeared to be intoxicated in their dorm and were not following staff directions.

Corrections officers and other security staff went to address the situation and began displaying symptoms of a possible exposure to an unknown substance.
