Editor’s note: This story originally aired on October 25, 2021. Susan Bergeman continued to push her brother Jeffrey in every one of her high school cross-country races.
Then, this spring, Susan pushed Jeffrey across the stage as they both graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
Susan is now a freshman cross country runner at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, where she’s studying to be a physician’s assistant. Instead of running with her brother, she says she’s now running for him.
Jeffrey is also still racing. This spring, pushed by his father, Jeffrey completed the Boston Marathon. In October, father and son will compete in the Chicago Marathon.
