MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Dragon City in Maryville has housed veterans in the resort for the past four years. It started when a local nonprofit reached out, asking if they could house one of their homeless veterans.
"That's when I started to learn a little bit more about the need for housing for veterans," Mandy Thomas, the owner of Dragon City Resort, said. "Especially for the amount of homeless veterans are in the area."
Since then, Thomas has kept the doors to the resort open to veterans. Through word of mouth, Dragon City started filling up from housing veterans. She said Maryville locals started contacting her when they saw a veteran, knowing they would have a place at the resort.
"I'm running out of room," Thomas said.
