15-year-old expected to recover after accidental shooting in Rusk

RUSK, Texas (KETK) - The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said that a 15-year-old was accidentally shot on Saturday.

Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson told KETK that two 15-year-olds were playing with a handgun near a residence on County Road 1619 at around 3:30 p.m. when the gun went off, leaving one of them with a gunshot wound.

The injured teenager was then flown to a hospital in Dallas, where Sheriff Dickson said they're expected to make a good recovery.
