DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) - Organizers of Northwest Wisconsin's largest Pride festival have postponed their September event in De Pere, citing safety concerns in the current political climate.

According to a press release, NEW Pride Fest, which typically draws thousands to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride and community, said the decision was not made lightly.

Pride is more than a celebration; it is a movement rooted in the fight for equality and safety.

"Because our Pride is one of the few that takes place in September, it can draw heightened attention during a time of increased tension." The organizers also say they have a responsibility to ensure a safe space remains for everyone and will announce a new date and location at a later time.
