After receiving a glowing review from the New York Times earlier this year, Acamaya, one of New Orleans' hottest new restaurants, is gaining additional acclaim after being named by Bon Appétit Magazine as one of the 20 best new restaurants of 2025.

The Bywater restaurant , known for its unique take on Mexican seafood, was one of just four restaurants in the South named to the list. It was joined by Recoveco in Miami, Perseid in Houston and Avize in Atlanta.

Chef Ana Castro opened Acamaya in June of 2024 with her sister Lydia, aiming to pay tribute to their Mexican heritage. And in a city where stellar cuisine is everywhere, the restaurant has managed to quickly make a name for itself among locals and those in the industry.
