Andrew Cuomo , who’s running for mayor on an independent ticket, said he wants the war in Gaza to end, a stance some see as a modest shift in approach but that the former governor denied Tuesday was a new position for him.
Cuomo has been a staunch supporter of Israel for years, and centered much of his primary campaign on it. But in recent interviews and press appearances, Cuomo, now an underdog in the race , appeared to slightly moderate his stance.
At a press conference, Cuomo said he wants the “carnage to stop” in Gaza, adding that he also wants Hamas eliminated and the hostages returned.
“All my career, I have been 100% pro-Israel, been the most aggressive governor in the country,” Cuomo said on Tuesday.
