GREENFIELD, Iowa-- The Adair County Veterans Affairs Office staged another Veterans Fair last week at the Adair County Fairgrounds. There were 37 vendors on hand to talk to a room full of veterans from the area about services they may need.

Veteran Galen Schwochow of Orient was asked to attend this fair, but he wasn't told why.

"I had an inkling, but I wasn’t quite sure," said Schwochow.

He was called to the front of the room where he was presented with a replacement set of medals he'd earned. Not only was he given the medals, the honors were read to him what each medal was for.

"Somewhere along the way, they just got lost," said Schwochow.

"The Army Commendation Medal, awarded for acts of heroism, meritorious service, or outstanding achievement," said volunteer announcer Wendi Lane.
