The trial of a second man accused in a 2022 killing in Rimini got underway Tuesday in Lewis and Clark County District Court.

Robert John Harvel has been charged with felony deliberate homicide and felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence for his alleged involvement in the death.

Harvel originally pleaded guilty in February 2024 to one count of deliberate homicide and prosecutors agreed to dismiss his other counts. But in October 2024, an order was filed permitting the defendant to withdraw his plea and go to trial.

A companion involved with the case, Brandon Michael Beckman, was sentenced in October 2023 to 100 years in the Montana State Prison after a jury found him guilty of felony deliberate homicide-felony murder and felony tampering with or fabricating physical eviden
