A New York resident died after falling in the Enchantments during a hike in Dragontail Peak.

Andrew Wong, 37, was from Long Island, New York. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Wong failed to return home after hiking in the Enchantments. He was supposed to return home on Sept. 7, while the report was issued on Sept. 9.

After authorities found Wong’s car at the trailhead, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office used a helicopter to scour the “challenging and hazardous” terrain.

Officials with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office found Wong’s body near Dragontail Peak — the second-tallest peak in the Stuart Range.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office announced the death Monday. The department ruled that Wong’s injuries were consistent with a fatal fall.
