CONCORD, N.H. —

Republican lawmakers in the New Hampshire State House are filing bills in response to the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk that target what can be taught in schools and what public employees can say.

The shooting death of Kirk came just as lawmakers in New Hampshire were filing bills for the 2026 legislative session.

State Rep. Mike Belcher, R-Wakefield, wants to root out what he contends is leftist indoctrination in public schools.

The draft language of his bill says no teacher, school or district shall engage in practices "that promote purposeful division, dialectical worldviews, critical consciousness, or anti-Constitutional indoctrination."
