TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A former local school administrator for the Twin Falls School District is facing felony battery and assault charges.

Ted Popplewell, 73, is charged with domestic battery with traumatic injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or instrument, according to court records. The prosecution successfully motioned to seal the affidavit relating to Popplewell’s case.

Popplewell spent four decades in education, most recently as the director of elementary education for the Twin Falls School District. He retired in 2015, according to District Spokesperson Eva Craner.

The judge set his bond to $500,000. A motion hearing for a bond reduction is scheduled for Wednesday, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 3.
