CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Several Cedar Rapids third graders officially marked the next step in one project that’s been years in the making. They took part in the groundbreaking on the historic Harrison Elementary school building.
The building in its current state has brought various challenges for faculty and students.
“It’s been quite a few years since we started this project and it’s nice to see it all come together finally,” said teacher Kristen Mueller. “We have a lot of hardships because we’re not ADA compliant at Harrison, there’s a lot of issues with restrooms, making sure there’s enough restrooms for everyone. Air conditioning and heating has always been a concern, especially air conditioning, it gets hot in those buildings, especially the gym.”
