SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — More Kansas juveniles in detention centers will now have access to mental health and addiction treatment, thanks to more than $1.4 million in new grant funding.
The initiative, established through the 2023 passage of House Bill 2021, is aimed at addressing behavioral health needs early and connecting families to support services before problems escalate.
"This funding is a game-changer for our ability to effectively help Kansas youth in the justice system," Megan Milner, Kansas Department of Corrections Deputy Secretary, said in a news release.
