The Camas School District received an overpayment of about $73,500 from the state because it didn’t adequately report student information for an alternative learning program, according to a state audit.
The Office of the Washington State Auditor’s report released Monday found weaknesses in the Camas Connect Academy’s internal controls. The audit evaluated the district from Sept. 1, 2022, through Aug. 31, 2024.
“Out of the 20 student files reviewed, we found an error rate of 47.04 percent in the Camas Connect Academy program, resulting in the district overreporting 78.33 monthly full-time equivalent (7.83 annual FTE) for the 2022–2023 school year and receiving overpayment of about $73,500,” according to the audit.
Camas Connect Academy is fully online for K-12 students. As an alternativ
