DIXON, Ill. (KWQC) - Sauk Valley Community College has a new president, and the first one to be an alumnus.

The Board of Trustees named Jon Mandrell as the school’s seventh president. He is the school’s vice president of Academics and Students Services, according to a media release from the college.

Board Chair Bob Thompson said the trustees are confident that Mandrell can continue the legacy of retiring president David Hellmich.

“Dr. Mandrell’s application process was supported by an overwhelmingly positive campus-wide evaluation recommending him in all aspects required of an exceptional college president,” Thompson said.
