LEXINGTON, S.C. — At Lexington Technology Center , it's all about real-world problem-solving with our News19 Teacher of the Week , Chase Owens.

His passion for teaching came at a young age at Chapin High. But his love for engineering came later in life.

“Probably since I was in high school, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Going to the University of South Carolina and getting my master’s in education. I actually started with a bachelor’s in history and then got really into more of the STEM field after teaching,” says Owens.

But engineering and teaching are not his only passions.

“I played football and wrestled in high school; wrestling was my main sport. I wanted to stay around wrestling, and so that's how I got into coaching. Literally right out of high school. So, it just kind of
