DES MOINES, Iowa —
Des Moines Biergarten is kicking off Oktoberfest with a golden keg bike ride and tapping ceremony starting Friday at the State Capitol. The ride begins at 6 p.m., with cyclists escorting the golden keg through Court Avenue to Water Works Park.
Des Moines Mayor Connie Boesen will tap the keg to start the three-day Oktoberfest. Organizers said there will be live music, games, traditional contests, food vendors, and family-friendly fun. Riders will receive a free beer, while supplies last.
Oktoberfest at Des Moines Biergarten runs Sept. 19-21.
