(NewsNation) — Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother has shared new details of her son’s death earlier this summer in Costa Rica.

Pamela Warner told “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts on Tuesday he was in Costa Rica because of his daughter’s education.

"His wife and daughter had been in Costa Rica three weeks prior," Pamela Warner said. "She is homeschooled, and this was part of an immersion program."

“The Cosby Show” star’s mother said he had arrived during the final week, which was "for the husbands to come” and that it was supposed to be "the fun part” of the trip.
