(KRON) -- C&H Sugar, Inc. has reached a settlement agreement with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office for releasing "excessive sewage odors" from its co-owned wastewater treatment plant three years ago, prosecutors announced Tuesday. The emissions violations took place over several weeks in 2022, and on dates plagued by excessive heat in the area.
The incidents occurred at Dowrelio Drive in the unincorporated community of Crockett.
Between Sept. 8 and Oct. 14, 2022, "operational disruptions at the wastewater treatment plant generated excessive sewage odors that adversely affected Crockett residents. The problem was exacerbated by unusually high temperatures in the area during those periods," said the DA's office.
